this book is a great reference of pre-modern computer graphics--in its infancy. showing us David Carson is one of the founders of computer graphic, being a prolific designer (yes he is). expressionism was the demolition ball that broke the barrier to freedom from the romantics and impressionist movement; to set art to another level of life (cubism, futurism, abstract art, etc.). i would say Carson's work is the same liberation from the bore of print and life in the digital world.

the book is somewhat slow in the beginning and not UP-to-02/22/2004, but if you read this book with patience in actually getting to know Carson's retrospect. then you will enjoy the second half of this book.

if your an art snob i don't recommend this book to you. eccentric ppl as yourself shouldn't even hold yourself as being honestly artistic. key word = honestly

but if you are open, then step in and know the modern day Mattise of the graphic designers.

While many people consider David Carson's work far too "outrageous" for mainstream corporate design, his influence cannot be underestimated. This book will, if nothing else, inspire you to re-examine all the projects you have in-house. And, if you are like me, cause you to "push" the envelope" on your next project. I cannot recommend it highly enough

As a graphic designer I think this book doesn't add anything in this field. I read lots of reviews about this book and they all said that it is magnificent that's why I bought it, but it is really a waste of money and time. The book and the images in the book will just tell you that David Carson is different and he has an odd taste in the typography nothing more or less.
I didn't get any inspiration or any benefits form the ideas in this book. My honest advice to you, if you are thinking of buying "End of Print" don't do it, instead buy anthoner typography or graphic art books which is going to be much more useful than this one
