Reading this book will tell you a simple, effective way to trade on charts. No nonsense, no complex indicators, no sigma notation mathematical sequences, just basic, effective trading techniques.

It is for longer term trading, perhaps 3 months or more, depending on how long the stock trends upward. This is probably the best longer term trading method I have seen. It is so basic you may already know most of it (unless you are just starting), but this book puts chart reading into a simple, practical method that can be mastered. One of the problems I had with CANSLIM was when to sell. Reading this book will give what I consider a good answer on when to take profits. And, like the book says, go short.

I wouldn't say Weinstein's methods are "secrets," they are just 100% common sense, and very effective. CANSLIM investors may find this a very useful book on expanding charting knowledge.

This book provides the best mix of advice and technical signals from successful chart reading to buy and sell stocks. The beauty of the system described in chapters 2-6 is that any chart or sector can be evaluated for buy or sell, eliminating the need to understand the company fundamentals. Many people from the LTBH era will relate to Weinstein's strategies because it's true -- thorough analysis of a company's financial, fundamental or management performance is not necessary if buying at a sound entry price and selling by automatic stops on changing technical signals is acceptable to the reader. Bottom line -- the techniques and examples taught in just those chapters 2-6 are sufficient to remove emotion and "over-thinking" from stock transactions. This should be the goal of objective traders and investors -- get the emotion out of your system, and it is well-achieved from Weinstein's techniques.

I bought this book because of the high ratings in Amazon. I must say that I fail to see why it deserves such high ratings.

The book introduced one central theme - look for a big volume jump when the price crosses the 150-day moving average - and was repetitive after that. The book tried to discuss chart patterns (e.g. head-shoulders) but was pretty lame. The book did not mention anything about other market indicators such as MACD, RSI, etc. Were these indicators unimportant? Were these indicators not in fashion back in 1990? I was perplexed.

If you are looking for an introduction to technical analysis, there are better tutorials out on the web than this book (just google "technical analysis"). Save your money for your next investment.
