Blink or Think?

Postby plato on Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:37 am

I recently noticed two books,
one is Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
the other is Think by Michael R. LeGault

Blink seems to be a book that promotes quick and intuitive thinking.
And Think is written for the sole purpose of criticizing "Blink", it seems to promote traditional critical thinking.

What kind of person you are? A Thinker or a Blinker?
What kind of person do you want to be? A Thinker or a Blinker?
What kind of people do you think Americans are? Thinkers or Blinkers?
Which book do you think has more copies on the library's bookshelf? Think or Blink?

maybe
I should have read the books before voting
and I should read them before attempting to answer the other questions so I will write down the title and authors, go on a quest to find them, travel my perilous journey and call my travels a medieval romance (a 10th grade english thing sorry) and then I will try to answer your questions until then I will ponder whether I prefer mashed or baked taters

I think i think and blink. I think I think more, tub I know I blink continously day to day. In the grand scheme I bet most people blink at least a hundred times more. I think blinking is important for getting anything done, but thinking is a lot more satisfying, and results in a much stronger better founded belief. If I had time, I'd try to think about everything, tub I'll put up with blinking for most things. I read "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell, and it was pretty interesting, so I shall try to find Blink and read that too.

I seem to have lost the paper I wrote the titles on, and got distracted from my quest and now I have to start again
but fear not I have written the titles down in my notebook of books to read and will find them
then I will be better qualified for this conversation
until then I will think and blink

I have added Blink to my wishlist on amazon. I couldn't find the think book ._.

Amazon wishlist is an amazing invention. It lets me remember things I'm interested in, without having to spend money. Then later, when i want something new, I can go and find something on there, and get it. I can then also remove all my 'impulse buys' which i no longer have the impulse for. It saves me money I think. If I'm lucky, someone else might even buy me something from there!

In this day and age, it is better financially to think than to blink. With every blink, you sink furthur into debt.

Don't say the debt word!!!!!!

I spend lots of time trying not to think about it. I'm clocking it up every year (university sucks for that), and will come out very very very poor. I could blink to stop my thinking! What's most distressing is that most people seem to drink/smoke/party or drive while at university. I don't do any of these, but live continuously in or just above the red... How do the people who do these things afford to? If I knew the secret, I could get a shiny nice new pc...

But they suck... They make me feel ill. And they're not very tasty... Maybe our eating habits are too good, and that is where the money for my imaginary gaming pc is flittering off to... So now the question is: gaming pc or food  (it's about 50:50 at the moment)

Maybe two days

I need much much more to fill my cavern of a stomach, such as sweets and crisps and pop. But if i can manage two days every week of just bread and water, maybe in 42 years...

in 42 years the gaming pc will be obsolete so you may need to go longer on bread and water than only 2 days a week...

I am doomed! I will just eat normally and pray for a passing wealthy monk to see me, write my name on his will and promptly die. The monk will be a gamer monk. I will inherit his pc :D
