Facebook sucks. Its rude and invasive, its not very fun, wired people try to talk to you, you get 'poked' till you must be bruised dead (even if you don't poke back, which just strikes me as childish). It records everything you do - forever, so it knows your life story, and it can be used against you (recently some uni people got in trouble because their lecturers found that when they were 'ill' they were actually partying hard, and posting the photos on facebook.

Is there any way to stop the facebook craze? What happened to good, solid (insane) forums?

Facebook is all about socialising and impressing and there's nothing to talk about there. All the talking is stuff about boring stuff. Never once have I found an interesting forum discussing pie on facebook, and I never expect I will.

yes it's definitely not a place to discuss pie or how the universe works in terms of pies

Indeed, and I doubt anyone will try to make it one. How people can live without knowing the greatness of pie is beyond me.

they were discussing how facebook and myspace are places to keep in touch with people you know
whereas forums are better if you want to talk about anything with anyone

That's true.. tub why then do random people want to be friends with me on facebook? Maybe i should direct them to forums.

OK.... sorry I'm a bit outdated, for the "Facebook" thing, how come I can't find it in my local bookstore? Should I be able to borrow it from the library? It sounds kind of creepy, like something that will eat your face or something. Is it safe for people in my age to read such a book?

I think you ought to google it. It is slightly different from what you are thinking but it is a bit creepy and may or may not eat your face off. Though it hasn't eaten mine off yet
