Favourite... Music! Woohoo, new thread!

Postby TheCountess on Fri Nov 17, 2006 6:40 am

Enough about books, as fabulous as they are! What music are you listening to at the moment? What song did you last download (not that anyone here would ever do that illegally, oh no...)? What song do you keep listening to over and over and which CD are you most hanging out to buy? Are there any fabulous concerts you have just been to or are looking forward to going to soon? Rant about music! I'll start...

My last song download was Mama, by The Spice Girls... a little outside my normal vein, but Mum was feeling blue so I downloaded it as a tribute to her, cheered her up some.

As for whats on repeat in my world at the moment... My Chemical Romance's "Welcome to the Black Parade", The Killers "When You Were Young", The Dresden Dolls "Coin-Operated Boy", Elfen Lied "Lilium" and various songs by A.F.I., Dragonforce, The Used, Muse and Death Cab For Cutie, with a bit of Evan Greer and The Beatles thown in for good measure.

In case you can't tell, I'm rather heavily into punk-rock-emo styles (though I reject emo as a label, its gone too far). Last concert I went to was A.F.I. They were fantastic live, by far the best concert I've ever been to, outperforming even Green Day! Woohoo! Next concert I'm looking forward to is actually a collection of gigs over a whole day... The Big Day Out. Acts signed up include The Killers, My Chemical Romance, The Violent Femmes, Muse... Totally. Stoked.

What about you?

I haven't downloaded any music but the CDs that are currently on repeat are Rascal Flatts "Me and My Gang" and a band mix that Symphonious made me.

Having recently brought my sister "The Black Parade" album, I have stolen it for my own now. And I'm looking into purchasing "Sam's Town" by The Killers next, being totally in love with the second song I've heard off it, "This River is Wild".

Went to a Jonny Doom and the Forcefields gig on Saturday night, took 3 hours to get to the hotel in the Coromandel where they were playing but it was so worth it. Check them out on MySpace, really, they're awesome.

Whoo! Been a while since I've posted anything. . . my account should be covered with dust!

Umm. . . let's see. . . I'm listening to. . .

The Billboard March - John N. Klohr,
The Stars and Stripes Forever (7 different versions -- two orchestra, 5 band) - J.P Sousa
The Return - Gareth Coker
Pictures at an Exhibition - Modest Mussorgsky
William Tell Overture Finale - Rossini
The Nutcracker Suite - Tchaikovsky
Ukrainian Bell Carol - arr. Richard Saucedo
First Suite in E flat - Gustav Holst
March of the Steel Men - (?)
-AND-
The Entire Planets Suite - Gustav Holst

All of my music is usually orchestras or bands because. . . well. . . I'm a total band geek. I hope we get to play some of these in band in the future. . .

You have way too much free/practice time. I wish I had even close to that much.

My computer has the Lion King soundtrack playing.

I have Sam's Town by The Killers on repeat at the moment. Fantastic album. Also really enjoying Tom Petty and The Beatles.

My favourite band, Johnny Doom and The Forcefields (mentioned earlier) are splitting up!! Argh! So I have the weekend of their two farewell gigs all booked up seeing them play... So very sad it will be the last time(s). :rub:
