I've only heard of a few of those artists
and the ones I had I mostly agreed with
but what about all those bands at the end of the 90s that lasted less than a year

but I've never actually heard it

I either didn't know most of them (has to be a good thing, right?) or agreed completely. But there were one or two I quite like, or think are talented even if their music isn't really your taste... Live, Celine Dion and The Goo Goo Dolls are notable examples. You don't have to like their music to be impressed with how they carry a note.
