How appropriate -- soft and fluffy like thistledown -- very prickly and scratchy like the rest of the plant if squeezed unnecessarily.

I love kittens
I really wish I could get a kitten that never grew up
just stayed playful, cute, and soft

As soon as I can find the digital camera and get her to stay still, I'll post a photo :D

This is terrible news. :sob:

Now that I'm moving to Perth, I intended to take Thistle with me. But I have realised now this wouldn't be fair to her. Here in NZ she has a large property to play on, but in Perth I'll have an inner city apartment. Here, she has company, my large family and other pets, but in Perth she'd be all alone while I'm working. And Perth has poisonous things. So really, for the good of my kitty, I have to leave her behind.

And it's breaking my heart in a way that leaving my family isn't. :tear:

well you don't have to leave her behind
I know plenty of kitties who live only with their owners and stay inside all the time and they seem to enjoy it a lot

but I am sorry that you have to leave her

I think you can teach Thistle to use internet, then you two can email each other.
