what not to eat in a movie theater

Postby Pimienta on Fri Jul 11, 2008 11:27 pm

ok there are a bunch of foods that shouldn't be eaten in movie theaters for many reasons

first there are multicolored foods such and m&ms
they can't be eaten because they can't be sorted in the dark and it is a necessity (at least for me) to sort them

also super crunchy foods such as tortilla chips
these just make too much noise while eating them

does any one else have other suggestions

Popcorn - its also too noisy. Plus you can't help imagine if someone behind is eating it, they're breathing it into the back of your hair.

Inconveniently packaged foods are bad too - noisy or tricky packaging. Tricky packaging can result in lost food, as when it opens the food may spring on to the floor or a neighbour.

that's pretty gross to think about
but mostly I think about my urge to throw it at people
I can't help but want to throw it
so easy just let go and it ends up in people's hair
then I think that other people may get these urges so I just steer clear of popcorn

I do get those urges... and there's so much ammo in just one pack. (also, quite important in my decision, i don't like movie popcorn. it chokes me)

It reminds me a lot of sawdust, actually.. I can't believe people ever buy salted version of it. That is even more drying and choking in its power.

Butterkist popcorn is good, though. Delicious, in fact...

I imagine if it doesn't exist in America, there is something similar. Its douzed in toffee or something, so its 'sticky' rather than dry and killer. Its also tasty.

I've had kettle chips, tub never kettle popcorn before - I wonder if they use the same principal?

I think the most similar thing would be caramel corn

as for the kettle chips and corn, I don't think it is very similar
kettle corn is made in a huge kettle and is sweet

Speaking of kettle chips, they go on the list - they're too noisy and too clumsily shaped for the cinema.

Another thing would probably be canned drinks - they make a noise, and you can't see if the can starts fizzing up everywhere, which could be very messy.

Our cinemas sell ice cream 'pots', but they fail too. When you get to the bottom of the pot, you can't find the liquid, or the other last bits. So you're left waiting for a flash or bright scene in the film, to look in and find out what's happening in there. And if you try to drink the liquid, you either get the other side of the pot leaving a line across your nose, or there turns out to be a lump of solid ice cream, and bam, it falls on your face.

Cones are also bad though, indeed. They fail

I think it also depends on the content of the film. If it's a vampire movie, I don't think it's appropriate to eat anything with ketchup...
