Edible plants that surprise you with their being edible

Postby Bomadeno on Mon Aug 04, 2008 11:50 am

Unusual edible plants... this comes from the tumbleweed topic - I didn't know tumbleweed was edible either, and although I did know that dandelion roots were, I didn't know pansies were - which bit is for eating? I don't know what a daylily is.

Nettles are something I'd never naturally think to eat yet they are meant to make a good soup or tea.

I am not sure what this plant likes to eat, but if you fall into its trap, I'm sure it won't mind to consider you as eatable.

Wait... do you mean edible plant or edible BY plant?

I think both should count. That is one big plant...

Is it actually in any way dangerous to humans? I looks like it might eat rats etc, but I think I'd probably be able to beat it in a fight (especially with keedkiller)

I think it can be dangerous, if you swallow it whole. It's a pretty big plant, big enough to swallow a squirrel but it would be really embarrass for any squirrel to be eaten by such a plant... most squirrels I know would prefer to die under the paws of a cat...

It's not a keed, so keedkiller won't work on it. On the other hand, a keedkiller may work on you, making you lose conscious and fell into the plant, and you can become the first human to be eaten by a plant (more embarrass than the squirrels).

I would love to try feeding a baby to the plant (uhhh morality aside for a moment). It looks about the right size, and I'm sure someone could find a spare baby for the scientific cause. Then I wouldn't be the first human to get eaten, if my keedkiller failed.

I wonder if venus fly traps are capable of digesting 'normal' (not fly) meat...

you could probably get a baby from china but you would still be the first man to be eaten (if you got the baby from china that is)

What about if I made the baby grow up to be a man (this sounds time consuming so I would use magical spells) and then fed it to the plant? I wonder if there are baby farms in China...

well I guess a girl baby growing up to be a man isn't unheard of but it sounds a bit extreme to me

Magical spells will have side effects...

What might be more interesting is for a baby to grow into a baby eating plant. That is as of yet, unheard of.
