Worshipers of Douglas Admas

Postby buggy on Sat Apr 09, 2005 9:16 am

You can ask Douglas Admas about meaning of life. But he's dead    , so so sad. The Hitch Hiker Guide's to the Galaxy is still alive though...

The Hitch Hikers Guide is the only book(s) I have ever read twice - thats saying something.

Sometime I will read the other ones, but I have lost them in my pile of coursework. Lovely, lovely coursework.

new split

Postby nil on Tue Apr 12, 2005 4:09 am

I think the worshiping of Douglas Admas is worth to be a new topic by itself! (and also because the forum looks better with more than one topic).

I am down on my kness, head bowed (and getting my nose into Dirk Gentlys Holistic detective agency) (whilst doing psychology coursework with the other) (and eating my dinner) (and wow I CAN multitask) (ow) My head is now in my dinner, my book has psychology scrawled all over it and my foot is in my ear.) Can I worship you piece of pie too? Is it a cold meat pie? For £2, or $4, or 4euros? The price is relevant - I need time to worship and time is money x)

Inspiration!

Postby Bomadeno on Fri Apr 22, 2005 10:26 pm

Douglas Adams, I agree has inspired amny many people. Tub, I don't think he inspired me... I think I was inspired my a mercilessly sarcastic father and a massively distressing youth, which I now can't remember, tub leaves me being sarcastic quite a lot.

*For some reason, whilst writing this post I honestly believed I was about to appear in a dirty stairwell in a big silver security safe*

Mac and Marvin

Postby nil on Sat Apr 23, 2005 5:04 am

Another theory was that somehow his Mac gain conciousness during his writing and took over. Marvin was the alter ego of his computer.

Answer to the meaning of life

Postby nil on Sun Apr 24, 2005 9:08 pm

* Since 6*9 = 42 in base thirteen, it has been speculated that the entire universe is therefore based on bad luck (13 is often considered unlucky). It has been noted that 13 is equal to 4 + 9 and that two of the words for 4 and 9 in Japanese also mean "death" and "suffering." Therefore the entire universe is based on death, suffering, and bad luck.

* If all of the numbers on a dice are added up (1+2+3+4+5+6), the answer is 21. If the numbers on two dice are added the result would be 42, so 42 = 2 dice, i.e. "Life's a crap shoot."

* And we all know that 2 dice is a pair of dice, so 42 is paradise

* If you add up the side of a die you get 21, and 42 is 21 times 2. So that's 42 = two die (to die)

* If we take 42 and separate the numbers, we get "Four" and "Two". How about Fortuitous?

* "42" is often used in a similar manner to a metasyntactic variable; 42 is often used in testing programs as a common initializer for integer variables.

* Google has a calculator function in its search engine, which knows the answer to life the universe and everything (http://www.google.com/search?q=answer+t ... erything+=).

* MSN Search also calculates this query correctly in a similar fashion (http://beta.search.msn.com/results.aspx ... everything).

* The original logo of Microsoft Windows contains a number of floating diamond shapes on the "flag". In fact, there are 42 of them.
