Young writer's club

Postby nil on Wed Jun 08, 2005 7:46 am

If you guys are interested in writing, I can set up a "young writers' club" site, so it will be easier for you to post your writing on-line. You can kind of becoming a professional on-line writer (at least look like one). You can also have your own blogs. It'll use one of those free open source software call Drupal.

It's kind of difficult to setup though, so it may take a while...

Updates (2005-11-02):
The new site is online now -
HAMSTER INKWELL- a creative writer club for the attempted writers...

I like to make stuff up, but can never find the time to actualy sit down and swrite a story. I suppose if somthing was motivating me it would be eisier. But that does sound like a great idea

Ahh, that'd be great. I love writing, but always feel embarrassed about asking people to read them.

Don't worry, those people who feel embarrassed about asking people to read their stories might like to read yours.

Well, it'll take me a while to set that up (seeing that I'm not the most motivated person in the world).

I'll let you guys know once it's up and running and you can see if you still want to join.

I'm trying to setup an experimental site. It probably will be up in a few days later (Ok, maybe a week or so...).

The problem for this forum is it's very difficult to format your writing, no tab, no space etc. And if you do write something, it got buried down by the comments.

So I tried to setup a site, that you can have edtiors, revisions, nice formating, and also a permenant link to the things you write.

What about copyright? How does that work here?

You own the copyright for whatever you write. That's the same everywhere. According to the US law, you don't even need to display the copyright message. But usually puting the YEAR - Copyright message make it more obvious and looks good.

If you mean other people's copyright, you can quote a certain amount of text (don't know the real limit) for "fair use" but no more than that, it's better to get written permission from other people first.

Yaaaay! Finding people who both write and appreciate my creative insanity is a trial. One of these days I mean to post something of my ongoing work here, but the trouble is that any old loser could wander in and plagerise it, and we can't stop people from reading posts. Would this site have a feature whereby only members can view stories and story samples? I've seen a couple like that before.

What exactly is meant by the above statement I may never know.
