Just out of interest.. what are people's thoughts on the subject of self harm, suicide and other such. Is it evil? Wrong, right, odd, normal? Something else?

self harm is perfectly ok. It only shows that you hate yourself. Self hate is good too. Sometimes. Suicide can often send a person straight to the bad karma side of the afterlife, but it can let them escape from today's world which is really.. And excuse my language... FXXX UP

Self harm

Postby nil on Tue Sep 06, 2005 1:41 am

Self harm doesn't necessary mean self hate.

You can like yourself perfectly and still, intentionally or unintentionally, hurt yourself...

As long as one keep the harm internal, then it really has nothing to do with evil. Evil and good needs the interaction between two or more entities...

But what effects you internally will eventually have a bearing on your interactions with others. Nothing is without cause or effect.

I think self harm is just bad altogether unless it is unintentional

I harm myself everyday.

Drinking and smoking and breathing in city air.

I love myself and I think that cross-country quilifys for self harm. It shure hurts like have your muscules on fire. But I don't think that letting hate brew inside of you is good for anyone. so hate of any kind would be harmful to everyone that comes in contact with that hate. And I think that hurting others is bad. So I would say that unless noone knows you, self hate and hurt is bad.

If a self harmer doesn't harm themselves physically though, does it mean they hurt themselves psychologically instead? Which sort of hurting is the better of the two assuming it were unavoidable?

well i am some one who as undergone some emotional and phisical harm,
and let me tell you that neither is good. my dad went to prison and
i went completly insane, i started to have nightmares that kept me up
all night. when i was not sleeping i was finding a way out of my live
i considered things like suised constantly. i started to smoke which
hurt me more i fell in with the wrong croud. i just thank who ever it
was that got me out of it that i am not dead. so mental or phisical
harm is not good for you even if you can not perfent it. if you have
friends you can talk to about it do it dont run because you will trip
and hurt your self in every way possible.

just some words from the other side of the line
if we all have a special someone then they should just show themselfs sooner so we dont have to look so hard

I think falling to the right crowd will be the most effective way to pull yourself out from some deep depression and so on.

self harm and all that stuff is bad. very bad. and if you're in a state where you're doing it, you need to get help. falling in with a good crowd might work, but it didnt really help in my case. when i fell apart and started self-harming, being in an extreme depressive state, my best friend who had been like a brother to me completely stopped talking to me! what i needed was support, what i got was being told to get over it. Thanks bud. Anyway, yea, its just bad.

Hmmm... interesting. Do you still self harm physically? If you do, stop or i'll find you and bite off both your legs then chew your ears a bit :o

If you don't, do you feel like the harm you did physically is being done mentally?

lycan.. i dont think there are any lines here. and the right crowd might help.. tub the right person will help even more. A crowd is all to impersonal. One person, they can know you better don't you think? If it helps, i'm telling you not to smoke.. it'll kill you slowly and you'll regret it. And some people.. who are allergice to it *cough cough* will think all the better of you :P

Countess... you should try and find this freind now - if your in a 'stable' state of mind and can show them so, and explain from the other side of 'lycan's line' that some people do see, don't give up on a freindship just because they have because they didn't understand. Especially a friendship thats important to you.

I intentionly harmed myself a couple of times. It did make me feel a little better. Somtime things (seem) very depressing like you'll never ghet over it and you want to kill yourself, but your afraid to so you just hurt yourself. But you get over it, just find somthing to keep you occupied and remember that what other people think dosnt realy matter, no matter who those people are, and that freinds are over rated.
I dont self harm anymore and i do know it was stupid and i always did know it was stupid. But everyone does somthing realy stupid once in a while.

I disagree. Friends aren't overrated. You can survive without them, tub you can live with them. Some of my best friends are friends.

And yes, sometimes the stupidest things in life seem like the best thing to do... only to realise they maybe.. weren't such a good idea after all. Have you really gotten over it? Does it not trouble you everyday, the memory of it?
