Does anyone here know what kind of person an 'emo' is? And what bands they like and stuff? i think it's short for emotional.

And the same for 'prep'

same here.

labels are stupid.

unless they're sticky labels, they're very useful when trying to decide if something is a jar of marmalade or a jar of congealed fat.

As to my knowledge... (I asked my brother) the description was:

Like a goth but spends most of their time sat in a corner crying self harming and wanting to commit suicide.

I'd say thats a particularly unpleasant label to be given, tub if its taken by choice then.. well i spose it might give a sense of individuality.

What a waste of one's precious life. If you want to sit in a corner and cry about something, cry about refugee children and famine victims, not your overfed, overindulged "emo" self.

As far as I know, its just a 'phase' some people go through. I say let them go through it, they might come out and see the world in a more positive light,a nd go on to do brilliant things. Never doubt someones own decision about themselves - they must have a reason.

Could also be a teenage hormonal thing???? Even older people going through hormonal changes, e.g. pregnancy, are subject to huge mood swings... ????? I'm just guessing, have only recently come across the term. :duno:

Labels are yucky.
Labels can also be shorthand for extremely long-winded, mind-numbing explanations.
It all depends on how they are used.

If we didn't have labels of sorts, i think things would be confusing. Tub some labels are yucky, like when you get a real label wet, and have to peel all those soggy bits off... yuck. Labels like 'fat' or 'mad' are usually yucky, tub I'm trying to make my friends come round to the idea that mad actually = normal.

i dont know the definition of an emo - but theres this guy in our school, and everyone knows him as the 'emo' guy, but it didnt seem 2 come across as a bad thing - more like fashion thing - loads of ppl fancy him. it could b ppl not understanding. he is like a goth, but wears pink belts.. i always thought it was just another 'what u look like' thing. but labels are stupid. oh, and apparentley, there is such a thing called the 'emo fringe'

Labels are a way some people have of trying to pre-package the world so that it doesn't scare the ^%$# out of them. It works by breaking things into little pieces that they can either identify with or reject as either inferior or just nothing to do with them.

It's usually better to let them have their labels. Otherwise things get too much for them - they aren't ready to be unplugged :P

What exactly is meant by the above statement I may never know.

Emo is short for emotional. I can be emo on occassion, when I'm having a depressive episode. I thank you for not ending my life on those occassions. Even emo people have a purpose to serve.

emo is just an emotional person who likes to make it known that they are through their dark clothes, long hair coverting their eyes and music they listen to. and for some reason they all gravitate towards glasses with huge thick frames...
